HARRISBURG, PA  – The Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC (Chamber & CREDC) announced that Philadelphia Macaroni Company recently closed on a $450,000 Enterprise Zone Loan through the Capital Region Economic Development Corporation (CREDC).  Philadelphia Macaroni Company was founded in 1914 by Antonia Marano and his son Vincent in Philadelphia, PA.  To this day the company is still owned and operated by the Marano family.  The company is a contract pasta producer for industrial food producers, institutional services and retail/private label distribution.

In 2014 Philadelphia Macaroni Company agreed to purchase real estate and machinery and equipment from Unilever at 1701 Berryhill Street, Harrisburg City, Dauphin County, PA.  Unilever had contemplated vacating this facility which would have left 43 people unemployed.  Philadelphia Macaroni Company’s purchase agreement and business plan to operate from this facility effectively saved 43 full time jobs in the City of Harrisburg.  This venture is Philadelphia Macaroni Company’s first operating facility in the Harrisburg Region.  The Enterprise Zone Loan was applied towards the purchase of machinery and equipment at this facility.
